The Semi-Finalist

I'm going to have to make a whole Tivo category. I submitted a joke personal ad for a contest held by the corporation I love the most and hate the least, Tivo. And now I'm a semi-finalist! (It's an honor just to be nominated.)

For the second round of the contest A and M helped me put together a 30-second personal video ad. You can see our entry (the one with "Phil Hearts Tivo" as its starting image) on the website here. I think you will agree that we dominate and totally deserve to win.

Mitch Yost Should Get Back in the Game

We recently discovered that we can get HBO for about the same as what we already pay for cable (until our "promotion" ends 3 months from now and they take us for all our money and the couch).

I have found myself unexpectedly loving John from Cincinnati. On paper, nothing about this show appeals. Surfing? A soap-opera mysterious stranger? And yet, and yet...it is quite good. And hilarious. Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy) makes a triumphant return to the bigtime with his portrayal of a crusty ex-cop who spends most of his time debating his parakeets (and losing). The well-named John Monad has magic pockets, grandpa floats, and Zippy the parakeet has resurrection powers.

Maybe you should watch it.
